It’s always a nice thing when someone mentions this blog. (Even the creative ways it’s been described are deeply appreciated.)
Steve Pellegrino’s Magic Rants was first to point people here. Tommy Gunn’s Gunnsight recently said kind things about this blog. I also got a very kind plug from Andrew W. in a post he made over at Conjure Nation.
And this week the latest Talk About Magic by Jim Sisti, over at Richard Robinson’s mega-magic Magic Show site featured Escamoteurettes, and specifically my post regarding context in magic. I have enjoyed Jim’s weekly installments for a very long time, but I will admit I enjoyed this week’s just a bit more than usual. Thanks Jim.
And thanks Steve, Tommy and Andrew.
I too really enjoy Talk About Magic. Jim’s radio experience really comes through. I haven’t listened to it in a few months, but I’ll take some time over the weekend and catch up.
I’m glad to see you’re posting regularly. Blogs are certainly catching on and like many other aspects of the internet, still in their infancy.
Blogs are taking everyone back to the possibility of the internet – individual thought and content without censorship.
Yes, and unlike forums, the quality of the blog decides its popularity. I’m a big fan of blogs and have been reading political, historical and literary ones avidly – so I’m happy to see some magic sites finally raising the bar.
Steve: I, too, am glad blogging has started to find its way into the world of magic. Way back when I, like so many other people, though the WWW was going to be the ground-leveler; the ultimate “freedom of the press” machine. And, to a certain degree it was, but a convenient method of publishing was pretty well out of the realm of possibility for most people.
Blogging software sure changed that. At various times I used Movable Type, and also gave GreyMatter a shot. But I have to say WordPress is nearly perfect for my needs. Thanks for tipping me off to it.
Andrew: I’m also a big fan of political blogs (which is an understatement, I assure you.) My “hit list” has been whittled down and I don’t have many everything-goes-whatever’s-on-my-mind blogs left on the list. There’re only so many hours in the day…
